The Acadian Archives acadiennes collects, conserves, and disseminates informaton about the Upper St. John Valley, a 70-mile stretch of the St. John River running between the U.S. and Canada. In pursuing this mandate of cultural conservation, the Archives focuses particular attention on the Acadian and Franco-American history, language and culture.
Located in the Powell Building at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, the Archives maintains an art gallery, exhibition room, genealogy resources, books, historic documents, maps, photographs, microfilms, and oral stories/videos.
